For six days this summer, 33 Virginia athletes will become Huskers. 

 

They’ll swim, run, play soccer, roll bocce balls, bowl, golf, serve up aces and lift hundreds of pounds at the second Special Olympics USA National Games, July 18-23 at the University of Nebraska and several nearby venues. 

 

They’ll join more than 3,000 Special Olympics athletes, 1,000 coaches, 8,000 volunteers and 30,000 fans for one of the world’s largest sporting events in 2010. They’ll celebrate the achievements of Special Olympics athletes from across the nation, and bring recognition to Virginia, their home towns, their friends and their families.
