About Us

1. Please explain your capacity for achieving the goals outlined in the Strategic Plan.

The Strategic Plan is always tied to the budget. As the budget is being created during the final quarter of the year, consideration is always given to the funding sources to accomplish plan actions and initiatives that require funding not in the current cycle.

2. Please explain how you measure progress toward the goals outlined in the Strategic Plan.

The Strategic Plan is a living document; annual staff initiatives are tied to the Plan Action; and data related to progress is collected throughout the year. Progress is reviewed at the committee level as appropriate. Annual progress is measured and documented during the final two months of each year and into the first quarter of the following year. The current plan is modified (Goals and Actions) and extended by one year so as to stay on a rolling three year cycle.

3. How do you report Special Olympics Virginia's progress to date?

Strategic Plan progress (as related to data, initiatives and actions) is reviewed at the committee level as appropriate. A narrative of the previous year’s progress (through the initiatives and actions toward the goals) and the new three year Strategic Plan cycle are presented at the committee level and subsequently at the Board level during the first quarter of each year.
